Smilez & Young Iz link up for 'Irish Girl'
Having turned plenty of heads last year with their post-pandemic movement ‘Outside’, dynamic duo Smilez & Young iz are back with another instant street classic ‘Irish Girl’. On the back of an Irish homegrown chart contender which peaked at number 8, Smilez is setting the pace for what is about to be his biggest summer yet. Following up on his last release “PLT’ Smilez delivers an ode to Irish Girls which touch on the glitz, glamour and drama of a typical ‘Irish girl’. The inspiration for the song came from the pair's first-hand experience with Irish girls, from partying with girls and vibing the night before they went straight to the studio to pen up their encounters and frustrations.
Produced by Chris Rich who has worked with the UK’s top artists like Central Cee, Digga D, Millionz. ‘Irish Girl’ is an authentic fusion of the far-separated worlds of R&B and UK drill, a blend that has recently exploded in popularity due to the number of hits it has produced via Tik Tok. Smilez and Young Iz take turns exchanging swift bars as the upbeat instrumental provides them with an even playing field for the duo to glide and speak their minds. The mash-up of the two genres is extended to the visuals directed by ED DID IT.
Hailing from the Borough of Tallaght Smilez also known as D24 Smilez made his debut with single ‘Prayer’ followed up by the breakthrough collab single ‘Gyptian’ with Cal x Pepper and Celaviedamai in 2019. Releasing his debut project ‘Eager’ in 2020, Smilez has been putting a focus on quality over quantity, providing street banger after street banger over the past year. From ‘Bando’ Ft. LayLow to Valentine's special ‘Fake Love’ with Dubzeno and the infamous ‘Drop Dat’ with Larry Alabi and A92’s Nikz.
