Oran Hurley (aka; soundguy) is a 21-year-old producer from Dublin. Currently studying
music in Trinity, soundguy first began producing four years ago. His debut track, Citrus
sees soundguy explore hip-hop through the lens of experimental electronic music.
The collaboration between soundguy and Shane Richardson was a long time brewing,
first introduced as workmates in The Guinness Storehouse last year. The two have been
working closely behind-the-scenes since then.
Shane Richardson is a 22-year-old producer and recording artist from Rathfarnham. As
featured on the official Spotify playlist The New Eire and District Magazine, ’the
homegrown songwriter’ finds undeniable progress with each release - most recently his
full-length album ‘The Bigger Picture’ which released in May.
“The album, a moody eight-song dystopia of drug, love and confusion, was entirely
written, produced and mixed by Richardson, and the hours in the studio spent toiling over
beats can be heard through its expert execution.”
Citrus channels that ‘end of summer’ feeling; bright, mellow, reminiscential. The track
sees seasoned rapper Shane Richardson evoke feelings of new-found love through the
use of introspective lyricism and metaphors to the beauty in nature with a convincing
delivery. Investigating the crossover between hip-hop and experimental electronic music,
soundguy takes an effectual risk blending these two worlds.
The final output is a refined and melodic record, paired with such an original approach;
expertly executed on a debut single.
